![]() I bought it twice more – small bottles 25 loads each. With Tide Original, my clothes were finally clean. It was the best laundry detergent I ever used and believe me – I tried many. I got hooked on Tide Original a few years ago when I received a sample to test. You have to wonder what types of chemicals they’re using in order to get the smell to be so intense and so enduring. Tide took a mild scent they used for 30 years and replaced it with something so shockingly intense, disgusting, and long-lasting it literally makes people sick. ![]() Whatever focus group okayed this was crazy. I can smell Tide wafting through my neighborhood, and wafting from people coated in Tide-washed clothing literally 25 feet away from me. Whatever new formulation they’re using should be criminalized. I don’t even know how a chemical so potent and enduring can exist. It’s a breathtakingly bad blast of persistent fragrance that lingers in clothes even after you’ve washed them a dozen times, for months after you’ve put them in a drawer, and gets all over everything they touch, leaving a heinous smell residue. What happened to Tide? The new formula which was developed about two years ago is literally one of the worst things I have ever smelled in my life. The only reason I gave 4-stars for value is due to the price still being one of highest among laundry detergents but still pretty good since I'm still getting Tide's signature clean. Those of us who were around when the original scent of the powder and later the liquid are really the ones who notice how much or little the scent has changed over the years. In conclusion each generation that gets introduced to Tide's line of laundry products will always have some gripe or compliment. When the proper amount is used per load of laundry, clothes come out of the dryer with just enough fragrance to notice but not enough to overwhelm you. I decided to try it and I was very surprised to find that it had that old familiar soap smell with just a hint of "perfume" but not the sickeningly sweet fragrance from just a short time ago. Then folks got tired of of heady, headache inducing aroma of "flowers and sweet tarts" recently and wanted something else hence it seems that Tide has reverted back to the old scent of Tide liquid with just a few minor adjustments to the fragrance. Then as the years progressed, people complained that they didn't like their clothes smelling like "laundry soap" so the era of "fruity, floral, disgraceful scents" was born and every detergent manufacturer followed that trend and folks were happy but I was not so I went back to powder AND another brand. When I first started using the liquid Tide in the early 90s it had a unique but simple fragrance which smelled just like a strong soap. I've been using Tide laundry products for over 40 years and I was around when liquids came on the market and I used them so I know what the fragrance was like back then. Ok, this will be a little lengthy but stay with me and hear me out.
